Eligibility
If you want to be a driving instructor, you need:- to be 21 or over.
- have held a full UK driving licence for at least three and a half years. If you have more than 3 points on your licence the DSA may reject your application.
- You will also need a CRB check from the DSA.
What qualifications do I need?
The ADI qualification exam has three parts:- A computer-based theory test.
- A practical driving ability test.
- A practical instruction ability test.
You can take the theory test as many times as you need to but you only have three attempts at each of the practical tests within those two years.
Will it suit me?
It's not just about formal qualifications. To be a great driving instructor, you need to know how to work with people, and how to motivate your pupils to do their very best.You will have excellent communication skills and will be able to keep a cool head under pressure.
